What this plugin does
LernHive Bookmark gives every learner a personal list of saved learning items. One click saves a course, an activity or a catalogue offering; the list and the Dashboard bring you back to it later. A second tab shows your seminar reservations when Seminar Management is installed. Your list is private — nobody else sees it.
Who this is for
| Role | What they do |
|---|---|
| Learner | Saves courses, activities and offerings; reopens or removes them; checks reservations |
| Site administrator | Reviews who bookmarked what in the bookmark report and exports it |
Both capabilities (local/lernhive_bookmark:use, local/lernhive_bookmark:viewown) are granted to every logged-in user. Trainers and administrators use their own lists like any learner.
Core concepts
- Bookmark — a personal pointer to one learning item; saving the same item again removes it (toggle).
- Favorites and Reservations — the bookmarks page has two tabs. Favorites holds your saved items; Reservations shows your seminar reservations, supplied by Seminar Management, and appears only when that plugin is installed.
- Automatic clean-up — bookmarks of deleted courses, deleted activities or removed seminar bookings disappear the next time the list is shown.
Journeys by role
Learner: open your bookmarks
- In the main navigation, open Learn → Bookmarks. The page My bookmarks opens.
- Your Dashboard also shows My Bookmarks with your five most recent items and, if you have any, Reservations.
Learner: bookmark an activity
- Open an activity (for example a quiz, forum or page).
- In the page header next to the activity title, click Bookmark activity.
- The state changes to Bookmarked without reloading the page, and Bookmark added. confirms it.
- Click Bookmarked again to remove the bookmark (Bookmark removed.).
The action appears only on the activity page itself, not on the course overview.
Learner: bookmark a course or catalogue offering
- On a catalogue card or a course page with the Bookmarks and course progress block, click the bookmark icon (Bookmark course).
- The icon shows the saved state; the item appears in your list.
Learner: find, open and remove saved items
- On My bookmarks, the Favorites tab lists your items grouped by course (items without a course under Other bookmarks). Each row shows the activity or course icon, the title, a context line and when you saved it.
- Narrow the list with All, Activities or Courses, or type into Search bookmarks. Without matches the page shows No bookmarks match.
- Click a title to open the item. A course detail page opened from here offers a back link to the same list.
- Click the × icon (Remove bookmark) to delete an entry. Removal always works, even if you lost access to the course since.
- Without any bookmark the page shows No bookmarks yet. with a hint how to save one.
Learner: check your reservations
- Open the Reservations tab on My bookmarks (or View all reservations from the Dashboard).
- Each row links to the seminar; the × icon cancels the reservation through Seminar Management. Without reservations the tab shows No active reservations yet.
Site administrator: review bookmarks
- Open Site administration → Plugins → Local plugins → LernHive → Bookmark report. The page Who bookmarked what lists every bookmark with Course, Bookmarked item, Type, Learner and Saved on.
- Narrow it with Search course, item or learner and Filter.
- Click Export CSV to download the filtered rows.
Settings that matter
There are no settings. Access follows the two capabilities above; a site administrator can withdraw them from roles to restrict bookmarking. The Bookmarks navigation entry appears only while the bookmark area is switched on in LernHive's plugin availability.
Limitations
- Bookmarks are personal; there are no shared lists, folders, tags or manual ordering.
- Activity bookmarks are set on the activity page, not on the course overview.
- The Reservations tab needs Seminar Management.
- Automatically removed bookmarks (deleted targets) cannot be restored.
Troubleshooting
The bookmark action is missing on an activity page. → It appears only on activity detail pages and only for users who may create bookmarks.
A bookmark disappeared without being removed. → The course, activity or seminar booking was deleted; such bookmarks are cleaned up automatically.
Removing a bookmark fails. → The session may have expired; log in again (the action is protected by the session key).
There is no Reservations tab. → Seminar Management is not installed.
